SleepA: 8 meditation techniques to help you relax

by SleepA Mentor

A relaxing technique to put your body and mind to sleep, detach fully, and be ready for the night is meditation.

Arrange a time for meditation

Arrange a time for meditation

Less effort is required as something develops into a habit. The same is true with meditation. You might need to remind yourself at first, but with time, you’ll discover that it nearly occurs effortlessly. Therefore, set aside a certain time each evening to meditate, such as just after dinner or right before bed, if you wish to do it more frequently. The software allows you to create a reminder for yourself to meditate, or you can just set your phone’s alarm.

Commence with music before moving on to meditations

Commence with music before moving on to meditations

Do you still have a high threshold for meditation? Start by turning on some music. You can listen while doing any evening ritual, such as brushing your teeth or washing your face, without having to sit down.

Replace music with meditation when it seems that your time spent listening to music has become a planned activity.

Stretch your meditation time

The music in the Meditation Moments app stops aut

omatically, so you can pick a nice song and turn it on when you’re ready to fall asleep. The track Deep relaxation is good to start with! Make sure you’re ready for the night (teeth brushed, pajamas on, etc.) so you can fall asleep and don’t have to get out of bed again.

When you can’t sleep, listen to binaural beats.

Special tones called binaural beats coordinate with your brainwaves to induce states of profound relaxation, concentration, or sleep.

Deep relaxation is produced by binaural beats that vibrate at delta frequencies (0–4 hertz). And that is useful if you have trouble falling asleep.

If that happens, put on some relaxing music using your headphones or earbuds. Take your time; the desired impact of binaural beats may not be felt for 15 to 20 minutes. Let the music play, please. Additionally, the binaural beats end after an hour on their own (during which time you will hopefully have fallen asleep).

If you like to read before bed, try relaxing with binaural beats at delta frequencies.

Keep your wireless earbuds by your bed.

Another piece of advice from Meditation Moments users is to keep a pair of headphones nearby. This will make it simple for you to meditate before going to bed. Pick up your earbuds and listen to a meditation if you find yourself counting sheep when you wake up in the middle of the night. It’s crucial to have cozy, wireless earbuds while you’re going to bed. Download a few relaxing meditations in advance so you can listen to them while you’re not connected to the internet. This will prevent you from receiving any message notifications while your phone is in airplane mode.

Meditate together with your partner

Meditating together with your partner before going to sleep can be great. This way you keep each other accountable (and that’s an extra incentive). Listen to a gratitude meditation when you’re in bed together and talk about what you were grateful for that day. This is a great way to end the day. Of course, you can also do this with your child(ren).

Make a moment of self-care out of your meditation

Make a moment of self-care out of your meditation

Make your meditation time a self-care opportunity. Every night, make time for yourself! Take a bath with aromatic essential oils while relaxing background music plays. This is how you create a mini-ritual out of it. While doing your evening ritual in the bathroom, play affirmations so you can repeat them aloud or in your head while taking a shower, brushing your teeth, or changing. For kids, these little rituals are also a lot of fun.
